Type of organisation: NGO Practical Action is an international development organisation putting ingenious ideas to work so people in poverty can change their world. Practical Action helps people find solutions to some of the world’s toughest problems, including challenges made worse by catastrophic climate change and persistent gender inequality. They work with communities to develop lasting and locally owned solutions for agriculture, water and waste management, climate resilience and clean energy. Key Activities In energy access we work in a number of areas from work on the ground , to global knowledge sharing, advocacy and partnerships. Sustainable Energy for Rural Communities (SE4RC) 2015-19 in Malawi and Zimbabwe with SNV, Hivos and others. Solar-powered mini-grids, prioritising productive uses and community services. Renewable Energy for Refugees (2017-2020) with the IKEA Foundation, bringing energy access to long-standing refugee camps in Rwanda and Jordan.
