Error creating thumbnail: File missing Practical Action Practical Action was founded in 1966 and is based in United Kingdom . Type of organisation: NGO Practical Action uses technology to challenge poverty in developing countries. Through innovative thinking and technical knowledge we enable poor communities to produce practical solutions to their most pressing needs. We work in four thematic goal areas: Energy Access Urban WASH and Waste Management Agriculture Disaster Risk Reduction With cross-cutting themes of markets, gender, technology and climate change. We work to demonstrate what is possible, share learning and inspire others. Key Activities In energy access we work in a number of areas from work on the ground , to global knowledge sharing, advocacy and partnerships. Sustainable Energy for Rural Communities (SE4RC) 2015-19 in Malawi and Zimbabwe with SNV, Hivos and others. Solar-powered mini-grids, prioritising productive uses and community services. Renewable Energy for Refugees (2017-2020) with the IKEA Foundation, bringing energy access to long-standing refugee camps in Rwanda and Jordan.
