The HVTC is an institue of the ELCT (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania)that trains young people to become carpenters, metalworkers, electricians or tailors. In total, up to 300 students live permanently on the campus. The water is pumped by solar power into big tanks that store water for times when no sun is shining. The construction itself was supported by staff of the HVTC as well as the maintenance is undertaken by electricians from the college.
