|Fuel Pricing Policies=SONABHY (Société Nationale Burkinabé des Hudrocarbures) is the national oil company, responsible for importing fuels and distributing them to regional depots. SONABHY, however, is not responsible for setting fuel prices.

Fuel prices are determined by an interdepartmental committee including a representative of SONABHY. Prices are set on a monthly basis. Fuel prices differ across the country due to transportation costs (which makes fuels a bit more expensive in the provinces).

In 2008, when import prices soared remarkably, fuel prices were frozen to make fuels affordable for the public. However, usually subsidies are being avoided. There were no fuel subsidies in 2010 (as of 2010-12-13).

Pricing mechanism and composition are documented transparently in general. However, the SONABHY website was offline when this text was written (2010-12-13).

Mixture for two-stroke-engines was removed from the range of products. SONABHY stated, that providing mixture is difficult to manage in practice.
